A policemen get caught and turn into superhuman with tiger DNA injection.
I was just a rookie cop when I got caught.
They injected me with something…something experimental.
Next thing I knew, I was a superhuman.
But I wasn’t the only one.
Sarah was there with me, and she was just as powerful.
We escaped, but the organization is hunting us down.
And Sarah’s starting to change…
I don’t know what’s happening to her, but I won’t let anyone hurt her.
Not even if it’s Dr.
Linus, the man who made me this way…
I was a rookie cop when they caught me.
It was my first year on the force, and I’d been assigned to a case that involved an underground organization.
The details were classified, but my job was simple: go in, arrest the bad guys, and get out.
I didn’t know what they were doing down there, but it couldn’t be good if they were hiding from the law.
I went in with my partner and three other cops, all of them more experienced than me.
I had a bad feeling about this, but I brushed it off as rookie nerves.
Being a cop was dangerous work, and it was natural to feel scared when you were about to go into a dangerous situation.
At least, that’s what I kept telling myself as we walked into the trap.
My partner was a grizzled detective named Marcus.
He’d been on the force for over twenty years, and he’d seen more than his fair share of action.
He led the way as we made our way deeper into the underground complex.
We were halfway to our target when the lights went out and a door slammed shut behind us.
We were plunged into darkness, and I heard the sound of locks clicking into place.
I’ll never forget the way my heart stopped beating in my chest as the lights flickered back on to reveal the lieutenant sitting in front of me, his face cast in shadows.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice tight.
I couldn’t see his face, but I could tell that something was wrong.
This wasn’t how this was supposed to go.
“The lieutenant told me that you’re not authorized to know about this case,” Marcus said.
“Hell, even I don’t know everything about it.”
The lieutenant’s eyes narrowed at that, but he didn’t say anything.
He just sighed and rubbed his face with one hand.
“I’m not going to lie to you boys,” he said at last.
“This mission is dangerous.”
I sat up straighter in my chair at that, my heart pounding in my chest.
“What are we up against?”
“I can’t tell you that,” the lieutenant said.
He hesitated for a moment before continuing.
“All I can tell you is that this is probably going to be the hardest case of your lives.
And not all of you are going to make it back.”
Marcus and I both exchanged wary glances at those words, but neither of us said anything.
Instead, we listened as the lieutenant gave us our orders.
We were to infiltrate the base and take down the organization from the inside.
I didn’t like the sound of that one bit, but I knew better than to question orders.
After the briefing was over, we were led down a set of stairs that spiraled into the darkness below.
I could feel the weight of the lieutenant’s stare on me as I went down the steps.
I’d been warned that this wasn’t going to be easy, and part of me wanted to walk away right then and there.
But I was a cop now, and it was my duty to serve and protect.
Even if that meant putting myself in harm’s way to take down a criminal organization.
The first thing that hit me when we got downstairs was the smell.
It was musty and sour, like old sweat mixed with blood.
The second thing was the sound of someone screaming in the distance.
Being underground wasn’t exactly unusual in New York City; after all, we had a whole network of subways running under our feet.
But this was different.
We were somewhere we weren’t supposed to be.
Tiger's Blood: The Superhuman Chronicles
We’d been ambushed—outnumbered and outgunned by the criminals we were supposed to take down.
My heart pounded in my chest as I crouched behind a stack of crates.
There was no way I could fight back; they had us surrounded on all sides.
I could hear the footsteps of the men as they moved in to close the net.
The gunfire was deafening as the bullets whizzed by me.
Somehow I managed to keep my head down and avoid getting shot.
But the same couldn’t be said for the rest of my team.
I felt a surge of panic as I realized that I had lost track of Marcus.
He’d been right beside me a moment ago, but now he was nowhere to be found.
And the others were in just as bad shape.
The last thing I saw was one of the other cops going down in a hail of bullets before his body went slack on the ground.
The mission had gone terribly wrong, and now I was on my own.
I tried to reach for my radio to call for backup, but it was no use—it had been shot out as well.
There was nothing left to do but run.
I waited until the men outside were busy firing at something else before I made a break for it.
I ducked my head low to avoid getting shot, my heart pounding in my chest as I ran through the maze of corridors.
It felt like I’d been running for hours, but I knew that couldn’t be true.
There were so many twists and turns that I felt disoriented, like I would never find my way back to the others.
But I didn’t have a choice—I had to get out of here if I wanted to survive.
The gunfire faded behind me as I ran, but I could still hear the sounds of the men shouting in the distance.
I knew they would be coming for me soon, and I had to get out before they did.
I stopped to catch my breath once I reached a fork in the road, my eyes scanning the passageway for any signs of movement.
There was nothing but darkness and silence all around me, but I knew that wouldn’t last for long.
I needed to keep moving if I wanted to get out of here alive.
Taking a deep breath, I set off down the left hallway, my steps quick and light as I moved.
The floor was slick with something wet, and I had to be careful not to slip and fall.
I could still hear the sounds of gunfire in the distance, but it sounded like it was coming from the opposite direction now.
Did that mean the others were okay?
Or had they already…
No, I couldn’t think like that.
I had to believe that they were still alive, that we could make it out of here together.
But first, I needed to find them.
I needed to regroup with the others before we tried to make our escape.
As I moved through the corridor, I heard a low growl coming from somewhere nearby.
It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and I came to a stop, my eyes scanning the darkness for any signs of movement.
Was it a guard dog?
Or something worse?
The growling grew louder as I moved closer, until I realized that it was coming from a room at the end of the hallway.
Tiger's Blood: The Superhuman Chronicles
It looked like a wolf, but its eyes were undeniably human.
My blood ran cold when I saw it, but there was something even worse in the room.
A whole pack of creatures, each one more twisted than the last.
Some of them had wings like bats, but with snouts like boars.
Others had scales covering their bodies like fish, only they were the size of a man.
And all of them were looking straight at me, their eyes filled with hunger.
I turned to run, but before I could go another step, I heard a loud click behind me, followed by a voice.
“Looks like we’ve got a live one,” it said, followed by a harsh laugh.
I spun around to see a man stepping out of the shadows, his face obscured by the darkness.
He held a gun in his hand, and I knew that trying to run would be a death sentence.
So I did the only thing I could think of.
I raised my hands in surrender, praying that he wouldn’t shoot me anyway.
I was led down a long hallway, the man with the gun in tow.
He didn’t say anything, but I could feel his eyes on me the entire time, watching my every move.
I tried not to look at the cages that lined the walls, but it was impossible.
Each one contained a different creature, each one more twisted than the last.
There were so many of them, more than I could count, and they all seemed to be watching me as I passed.
Some of them snarled and growled, their teeth bared in anger, while others just stared at me with dead eyes, like they had given up all hope of escape.
The smell in the air grew worse the further we went, a mix of sweat, blood, and something else that I didn’t want to think about.
It made my stomach churn, but I forced myself to keep walking, not wanting to give the man any reason to shoot me.
We finally reached the end of the hallway, where there was a large metal door.
The man opened it with a key, and I stepped inside, blinking against the sudden light.
It took a moment for my eyes to adjust, but when they did, I wished I hadn’t looked at all.
The room was filled with cages, each one containing a different creature.
But these weren’t just any creatures.
They were abominations, twisted forms that should never have existed in this world.
Some had the body of a man, but the face of a wolf.
Others had the legs of a goat, while one even had the scales of a fish covering its entire body.
And those were just the ones I could see.
There were so many cages, stacked on top of each other in a haphazard mess, that I couldn’t even begin to guess how many more were hidden from view.
I took a step back in horror, but the man caught my arm before I could go any further.
“Welcome to our little menagerie,” he said with a grin.
I struggled against his grip, but it was no use.
