I’m not the most popular guy in the Marvel Universe.
I mean, I have friends.
Logan and I are pretty tight.
We’ve been through a lot together, and he’s always been there for me.
He’s a good guy, even if he doesn’t want anyone to know it.
He’s got a reputation to uphold, after all.
And he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.
He’s not afraid to do what needs to be done, even if it means getting his claws bloody.
But he’s also got a soft spot for kids, and he’d do anything to protect them.
That’s one of the things I respect most about him.
He’s a grizzled veteran, but he’s also a mentor to the younger heroes, and they all look up to him.
They all want to be like him when they grow up.
And who can blame them?
He’s the best there is at what he does, and what he does isn’t very nice.
Sometimes you have to do things you’re not proud of.
That’s what being a hero is all about.
It’s about making sacrifices.
It’s about putting the greater good ahead of your own well-being.
That’s something Logan knows better than anyone.
And that’s something we have in common, because we’ve both had to make some tough choices.
We’ve both had to do some things we’re not proud of.
But we’ve also done some pretty amazing things.
We’ve done some things that we can be proud of.
We’ve saved the world a few times, and we’ve made some pretty powerful enemies along the way.
Enemies who would like nothing more than to see us dead.
Enemies who would like nothing more than to wipe us off the face of the earth and make sure nobody ever remembers our names.
Enemies who would like nothing more than to make sure we’re forgotten forever.
And that’s exactly what they’re trying to do.
They’re trying to erase our memories, and they’re using some pretty powerful magic to do it.
And that’s not cool with me.
They can take a lot of things away from me, but they can’t take away my memories, and they can’t take away my friends.
They can’t take away the people I care about, the people I’d do anything for, even if it means putting my own life on the line.
That’s what being a hero is all about, after all.
It’s about making sacrifices, and it’s about doing what needs to be done, even when it seems impossible.
Even when the odds are stacked against you and you’re fighting an enemy that’s more powerful than anything you’ve ever faced before.
Even when you’re facing an enemy that’s bigger than you can even imagine, a cosmic entity that embodies the accumulated knowledge of all time, except for a few secrets it keeps hidden away from prying eyes.
But Logan and I are no strangers to danger, and we’re not about to back down from a fight, even when we’re hopelessly outmatched.
The Unseen glares down at us with its one good eye, and it speaks in a voice that rumbles like thunder.
“You do not understand,” it says.
“This must be done.It is for the greater good.”
I cross my arms over my chest and cock an eyebrow at him.
“The greater good?”
I say, repeating his words back to him skeptically.
“It sounds like you’re trying to justify what you’re doing.”
Wolverine steps up beside me and glowers at the cosmic entity with his golden eyes narrowed into slits.
“Is this really necessary?”
he demands, his voice gruff and angry.
The Unseen looks down at him with a mixture of pity and contempt in his one good eye.
“You have seen what happens when the balance is upset,” he says.
“You have seen the destruction that results.”
“So we have,” Wolverine admits grudgingly.
“But that doesn’t mean we have to like it.”
With that, he steps up beside me and glares up at the Unseen, his lips twisted into a grimace.

“Do you really believe that our friends would want this?”
The Unseen looks down at us with its one good eye glowing faintly in the darkness.
“Do you believe they would want you to defy me?”
I raise an eyebrow at him, and I shake my head slowly from side to side.
“Honestly?”
I say, my voice a little hoarse.
“I don’t think they’d want that either.”
The Unseen’s eye glows brightly for a moment, as if it were reading our thoughts.
“As you wish,” he says at last.
“If that is your decision, then so be it.
But know this: the rest you deny them will not be welcome. They long for the peace that awaits them in oblivion.”
“I doubt that,” Wolverine says.
“If they wanted to be forgotten, they wouldn’t have made such a big deal about saving the world.”
I can’t argue with that logic.
And I can’t let their memories be erased.
I can’t let them be forgotten.
I can’t let them go gently into that good night.
Because if I do, then I’m not sure how I’ll live with myself.
But maybe I don’t have a choice.
Maybe it would be better if I didn’t have to live with myself.
Maybe it would be better if I weren’t alive at all.
Maybe it would be better if I were dead.
Maybe it would be better if I were just a memory.
But that would mean letting my friends down.
That would mean letting them go one more time.
And that’s not something I can do.
That’s not something I’m willing to do.
That’s not something I want to do.
Because I don’t want to let them go again.
I don’t want to forget them again.
And I don’t want to forget the sacrifices they made for me.
I don’t want to forget the sacrifices they made for all of us.
But what choice do I have?
How can I fight against a cosmic entity that controls the very fabric of time and space?
How can I win against an enemy that holds all the cards and knows all the tricks?
How can I hope to defeat an enemy that knows my every move before I even make it?
What chance do I have against an enemy that knows me better than I know myself?
The answer is simple: none at all.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t try.
It doesn’t mean I won’t give it my best shot.
Because that’s what heroes do.
They fight the good fight, even when the odds are stacked against them and they’re fighting a battle they can never hope to win.
Because even if they can’t save the day, they still have to try.
And that’s exactly what I plan to do.
As I prepare to make my final stand, a ghostly figure appears before me, her ethereal form glowing faintly in the darkness as she reaches out a hand to touch my face gently.
“Don’t give up,” she says softly with a sad smile on her lips.
"Memory's Last Stand"
I look over at Logan and see the grim determination in his eyes and the fire in his heart as he stands beside me, ready to face the Unseen and fight to the bitter end to save the memories of our fallen comrades.
“I’m not going to give up,” I tell her with a small smile of my own as a single tear slips down my cheek and splashes against the floor of the cosmic battleground where we stand.
“I’m never going to give up.”
The Unseen regards us silently for a moment, its ghostly form hovering in the air before us like a specter of death as it watches us with empty eyes and listens to our words with unseen ears.
Then it raises a hand and waves it through the air, and suddenly I find myself unable to move as my body locks up tight and my mind goes blank and my eyes go wide with shock as I realize what’s happening to me.
I open my mouth to scream, but no sound comes out as the Unseen takes control of my body and forces me to walk forward like a puppet on a string as it drags me across the cosmic landscape and closer to the edge of oblivion where the memories of our fallen friends will soon be lost forever.
“Don’t move,” Logan growls as he raises his claws and takes a step forward.
But then the Unseen raises its other hand and waves it through the air, and suddenly Logan’s body locks up tight as well as the Unseen takes control of his body and forces him to stand still like a statue of stone as it holds him in place and prevents him from interfering with its plans.
I try to move my mouth and make words come out so I can scream at the Unseen to let him go and stop this madness right now before it’s too late.
But I can’t make any sound at all as the Unseen forces me to remain silent and walk forward like a puppet on a string while Logan watches helplessly with empty eyes and clenched fists as he’s held in place like a prisoner of war.
As we draw closer to the edge of oblivion where we’ll soon be lost forever, the Unseen raises its voice and speaks to us once again as we struggle helplessly against its invisible grip and fight to free ourselves from its control.
“I do not understand why you insist on fighting against me when you know that you cannot win,” the Unseen says softly with an edge of disappointment in its tone of voice as it watches us with empty eyes and listens to our thoughts with unseen ears.
“You have died and come back to life more times than you can count so you know what death is like firsthand,” the Unseen goes on as we continue to struggle against the invisible grip of its power.
“So why do you continue to resist me when you have already been given a second chance?”
“We refuse to let our friends go,” Logan growls through clenched teeth as he struggles against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“Even if you have to force us to forget them, they’re still going to be a part of us,” I add with a defiant look in my eyes as I struggle against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“Because they’re still going to be a part of me!”
“They are not coming back,” the Unseen tells us quietly but firmly as its ghostly form hovers in the air before us like a specter of death.
“They are gone and they are not coming back so there is no point in holding on to their memories any longer.”
“That may be true for you but it’s not true for us because we’re still here,” Logan growls through clenched teeth as he struggles against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“We’re still alive so they’re still alive in here even if you try to make us forget them!”
“We may not remember them now but that doesn’t mean they’re gone for good!”
"Memory's Last Stand"
And then everything around us goes black as my vision goes dark and my body goes numb and my mind goes blank from head to toe as the Unseen takes control of my body and forces me to walk forward like a puppet on a string while Logan watches helplessly with empty eyes and clenched fists as he’s held in place like a statue of stone.
As we step through the veil of darkness that leads to oblivion where the memories of our friends will soon be lost forever, I hear the voice of the Unseen speaking to us one last time before they disappear from this world and return to their eternal rest in the place between life and death where no man can go.
“I do not understand why you believe that you can save them,” the Unseen says softly as its ghostly form hovers in the air before us like a specter of death.
“For even if you remember them now, there will come a time when you will forget them again.”
“That may be true but at least we’ll have something worth fighting for,” Logan growls through clenched teeth as he struggles against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“And something worth dying for too,” I add with a small smile on my face as I struggle against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“Because we’ve died before and we’ll die again and again and again until the end of time if that’s what it takes to save them from being forgotten!”
“You are both fools,” the Unseen tells us as its ghostly form hovers in the air before us like a specter of death.
“But you’re also brave because you’re willing to fight and die for the memories of your friends even when you know that they’re already gone.”
“And you’re also very talkative too,” I say as I struggle against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“But that’s okay because it comes in handy when you’re trying to annoy someone who’s trying to kill you!”
I look over at Logan and see him staring at me with empty eyes as the ghostly form of the Unseen holds him still like a statue of stone and forces him to watch helplessly as I’m held in its grip and dragged across the cosmic landscape like a puppet on a string.
“Yeah,” Logan growls through clenched teeth as he struggles against the invisible grip of the Unseen’s power.
“And you’re really good at annoying people too.”
The Unseen regards us silently for a moment as it watches us with empty eyes and listens to our thoughts with unseen ears.
Then it raises its hand and waves it through the air, and suddenly my body is released from its grip and I fall forward into Logan’s arms as he catches me in his arms and holds me close and helps me stand up so I can face it once again before we disappear into oblivion.
“Do you really believe that what you’re doing is going to make a difference?”
the Unseen asks softly as its ghostly form hovers in the air before us like a specter of death.
“Do you honestly think that by remembering them now you can somehow prevent them from being forgotten forever?”
