It’s okay to want more.
I could feel the dark side calling to me, pulling me in.
It’s okay to want to be free from fear.
It’s okay to want to be in control of your own destiny.
I was so close to giving in, but I couldn’t.
I had to resist.
All you have to do is embrace me and I will give you everything you’ve ever desired.
You can be a god among men, with the power to bend reality to your will and make all your dreams come true.
I had to be strong.
The Jedi Order was depending on me, and I couldn’t let them down.
You can save your wife from dying in childbirth and prevent yourself from becoming the very thing you fear most: a monster capable of doing terrible things in the name of love.
I couldn’t let Obi-Wan down.
You can finally have everything you’ve ever wanted and more.
All you have to do is say yes.
I couldn’t let Padmé down.
All you have to do is embrace me with open arms.
I couldn’t let myself down.
I had to be strong, for all of us.
All you have to do is give in and let me take control of your life.
As I made my way to the Chancellor’s office, I could feel the darkness growing stronger with each step I took.
You know you want to.
You know it’s the only way.
It was like a black hole, sucking me in and refusing to let go.
But I had to fight it.
You know there’s nothing you can do to stop it from happening.
I had to resist it at all costs, no matter what it took.
So why fight it?
Why pretend like you can resist something that’s been a part of you for so long?
The fate of the galaxy depended on it, and I wasn’t about to let everyone down now.
Not after everything we’d been through together.
The voice paused for a moment before continuing once again.
The Jedi are lying to you.
Not after all the sacrifices that had been made along the way.
I stepped off the elevator and started walking down the hallway, my heart pounding in my chest.
They’re using your fears against you in order to get what they want most: power and control over everything and everyone in this galaxy.
They’ve convinced you that love is forbidden because it leads to attachment and attachment leads to jealousy and jealousy leads to hate and hate leads to suffering, but they’re wrong!
I could feel the dark side pulling at me, trying to seduce me with promises of power and control.
They’re wrong about everything they’ve ever taught you!
It promised me that I could save my wife from dying in childbirth.
It promised me that I could become the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.
Love is not something to be afraid of or ashamed of or repressed for any reason!
It promised me that I could prevent the very thing I was so afraid of: losing the people I loved the most.
It’s something beautiful that should be celebrated with open arms and embraced by those lucky enough to experience it firsthand!
But I knew that I couldn’t give in.
It’s something worth living for and fighting for and sacrificing everything for!
I had to be strong.
The voice paused for a moment before it spoke again.
The Jedi will never understand what it means to love someone as much as you love Padmé!
I had to stay true to myself and everything I believed in.
She can give you the life you’ve always dreamed of having and more.
I had to resist the dark side, no matter how tempting it may be.
All you have to do is take it.
I had to resist it for Obi-Wan.
I had to resist it for Padmé.
All you have to do is say yes.
All you have to do is give in and let me take control of your life.
I had to resist it for everyone who had ever placed their trust in me.
You know there’s no other way.
I had to resist it for myself.
You know the Jedi will never let this go.
And most importantly, I had to resist it for the Jedi Order, and everything it stood for.
You know they’ll never accept this as part of who you are.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to regain control over my emotions before they got the best of me.
You know they’ll ask you to choose between them and her, and that’s a choice you’ll never be able to make on your own.
The dark side was getting stronger now.
The voice paused for a moment before it spoke again.
I could feel it wrapping around me like a thick fog, clouding my thoughts and making it difficult to think straight.
But I refused to give up without a fight.
But what if I told you that there was a way out of this mess?
I refused to let the darkness win, no matter how much it may want me to believe otherwise.
What if I told you there was a way for us to be together forever?
I opened my eyes and continued walking down the hallway, trying my best to keep my composure as I made my way to the Chancellor’s office.
What if I told you that the dark side was the only true path to freedom and power and control?
Would you believe me then?
I could feel the darkness tugging at me, trying to get me to embrace it with open arms.
I could hear it whispering in my ear, telling me that it was okay to give in, that I didn’t have to fight anymore.
Would you finally be able to see the truth for what it really is?
"Galactic Redemption: Anakin's Courageous Stand"
It told me I could have everything I ever wanted: power, control, and the ability to save those I loved from death itself.
But I knew better.
I knew that giving in would mean betraying everything I ever stood for.
I struggled to keep my composure as I stared into his cold, dead eyes.
The voice inside my head was growing louder by the second, its words echoing in my mind like a bad dream I couldn’t wake up from no matter what I tried.
It would mean turning my back on the Jedi Order, on Master Yoda, on Obi-Wan, and most importantly, on Padmé, my secret wife who had given me so much over the years.
It would mean throwing away all those memories we shared together, all those moments we spent together laughing and loving one another with all our hearts.
I could feel the dark side pressing in on me from both sides, threatening to consume me whole if I allowed it.
It would mean letting go of everything we fought so hard for, and allowing it to be consumed by the darkness once and for all.
The longer I remained in his presence, the more I began to believe he was telling the truth about everything, even though I knew deep down he wasn’t.
He was too good at manipulating my emotions, my deepest fears, and my darkest desires, knowing exactly how to get under my skin and make me question everything I’d ever been taught about the Force.
I closed my eyes and took another deep breath as I tried to block out the voice in my head, but it was no use.
The darkness was too strong now, overpowering me and making it difficult to think straight.
He was also too good at using my connection to Padmé against me, knowing exactly what buttons to push and when in order to get me on his side once and for all.
He promised he could save her from death, from me, from everyone who wanted her gone from the galaxy forever.
The voice grew louder as it spoke once again, taunting me with the things I wanted most in life: power, control, and the ability to save my loved ones from certain death.
"Galactic Redemption: Anakin's Courageous Stand"
He promised he could save the galaxy from the Jedi, from the Republic, from the Separatists, from everyone who had ever done anything to hurt anyone else for any reason.
He promised he could make me the most powerful Force-user ever known, even more powerful than Master Yoda or Master Windu or any of the other Jedi Masters combined.
And he promised he could make us both rulers of the galaxy, with me as his apprentice by his side for all eternity, never to be separated from each other or the power we’d earned with our blood, sweat, and tears.
As I continued to stare at him, his face began to change, revealing the full extent of his true identity to me for the first time since we met on Coruscant all those years ago.
He was the Sith Lord, the one who’d been pulling all the strings behind the scenes while we were off fighting his war for him.
He was also my sworn enemy, the one I’d sworn to destroy by any means necessary for as long as I lived and breathed.
He was also the one standing between me and everything I’d ever wanted in my life, including Padmé.
As his face changed for one last time, I felt a shiver run down my back as I recognized his true form for what it really was: a monster cloaked in human skin, able to deceive those who didn’t know him as well as I did with only a single glance in their direction.
As I continued to stare at him with my mouth wide open, I felt the dark side begin to wrap around me like a blanket of ice, promising me everything I’d ever wanted for as long as I lived if only I’d take that final step towards it all.
But as much as I wanted to give in, to say yes, to take everything and leave nothing behind in my wake, I knew that once I did there’d be no going back for me ever again.
I’d never be able to escape my fate no matter how hard I tried or how far I ran or how much time passed before I returned to face my destiny one on one.
