Captain America turns evil in Spider-Man and iron Man team up together to defeat Captain America. Miles Morales Spider-Man also joins Spider-Man's team
The Avengers have just been disbanded, and Captain America has gone rogue.
He led an attack on a government facility, which left many dead and injured.
With the public losing faith in superheroes, Iron Man and Spider-Man swung into action to find out why Captain America would do this.
The sound that echoed down the street was more than just another explosion—it was a wake-up call.
Tony Stark and I had been at the Avengers Tower when we got the call that something was going down at a government facility not far away.
At first, I didn’t think much of it.
I figured it would be a quick trip to see what was what, then we’d head back to the tower, and I’d order in some shawarma.
But as we got closer, the explosions just kept coming.
We both knew this wasn’t your average attack.
Tony and I landed on the scene just as Cap took out another guard.
The man was just doing his job, but Steve Rogers didn’t seem to care about that anymore.
“Stand down,” Tony ordered.
Cap turned, and I’ll never forget the look in his eyes.
It was like he was so far gone, he didn’t even recognize us.
“I can’t do that,” he said.
I wanted to believe he had a good reason for this—that there was some excuse for what he was doing that would make it all okay in the end.
But as Cap punched Tony across the face, I knew there wasn’t.
He might have been a hero once, but he sure as hell wasn’t one anymore.
My hand automatically went to my belt, where my web shooters were waiting for me.
I activated them and shot out a web, catching Cap in the back and pulling him away from Tony before he could land another punch.
Cap whipped around, and his eyes went cold as they landed on me.
I could see the shield in his hands start to glow as he narrowed his eyes at me, but then Tony was there, activating his repulsors and shooting them at Cap’s shield with enough force to send him flying backward into a nearby building.
“Holy shit,” I breathed.
Just seeing Cap lose a fight was a shock—especially one against Tony Stark himself.
“I know,” Tony said, shaking his head.
“I never thought I’d see the day.”
We both know that sometimes, good guys had to make hard decisions.
But Steve Rogers wasn’t just a good guy—he was the good guy.
He’d been the one to make the hard decisions and always come out smelling like a rose.
Now, it seemed like he’d lost his damn mind.
Tony got back to his feet, and I followed his lead.
“I’m going to assume you’ve got no idea why he’s doing this either,” Tony said.
I shook my head.
“He didn’t say.”
“Well, that’s helpful,” Tony muttered.
I could tell he was hurting—that seeing Cap like this was hurting him in a way I wouldn’t be able to understand.
I wanted to help him, but I didn’t know how.
And if I’m being real with myself, I couldn’t be sure I hadn’t caused this.
If I had been paying attention—if I had been better—would I have seen this coming?
“Don’t do that, kid,” Tony said, reading my mind like he always did.
“You can’t blame yourself for this.
Betrayal of the Shield
You were there when it happened, but we both know there’s no way you could’ve stopped it.”
“Maybe not,” I said.
“But I would’ve tried.”
“I know you would’ve,” Tony said.
“Now let’s see if we can fix this.”
We were just about to head inside when my phone buzzed in my pocket.
I pulled it out and saw a text from Natasha Romanoff: “The Winter Soldier is here. He’s attacking the main building.”
“Shit,” I breathed, showing the text to Tony as I put my phone back in my pocket.
This was way worse than we thought it was.
“Are we really sure we want to do this?”
“You’re right,” Tony said.
“We should probably just let them take what they want.”
“Kick their ass,” I ordered as I launched myself into the air and shot out a web in front of me to swing into the building where Cap and the Winter Soldier were now working together to take out anyone who got in their way.
“How’s it looking from your end?”
I asked as I dodged a shower of bullets from one of the guards who’d been stationed outside the building.
“Not good, kid,” Tony said.
“I’m almost there.”
“The Winter Soldier is inside with Cap,” Natasha said as she joined us on the ground just outside the main building.
“I’ll get him,” she added as she turned and headed inside.
“We need to hurry.I don’t think we have much time.”
“Are there still people inside?”
I asked as I used my web shooters to take down the guard who’d been shooting at us so that we could get inside without being shot up in the process.
“There are still a few guards stationed around the building, but there shouldn’t be anyone else left inside.”
“No, not here,” Natasha said as she pulled her phone from her pocket and showed us a new message from S.H.I.E.L.D.: “Cap is leading a group of rogue agents in New York City.”
“What does this mean?”
“I’m not sure,” she said.
“We need to get in there,” Tony said.
“I can’t let them get away.”
“So you’re going to leave me here?”
I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
I could tell he was about to tell me no, that there was no way in hell he was going to let me fight Captain America in the state he was in, but then he hesitated and seemed to change his mind.
He knew as well as I did that it was going to take more than just him to stop Cap.
But if even Tony Stark couldn’t do it, what hope did the rest of us have?
“Come on,” Tony said as he headed inside.
I knew he wasn’t thrilled about my decision, but he also knew there was no way he was going to be able to talk me out of it.
We made our way through the building until we found the room where Cap and the Winter Soldier were now working together to take out the last of the guards who’d been stationed inside.
They turned when they heard us coming and stood side by side, their weapons drawn and ready to fire.
“Steve, what the hell are you doing?”
Tony asked as he raised his hands and activated his repulsors.
Betrayal of the Shield
“No one needs to get hurt here,” he added as he shot his repulsors at Cap and the Winter Soldier.
“Tony, wait,” I said as I leaped forward and used my webs to grab hold of Cap’s shield and yank it out of his hand before he could use it to block Tony’s shots.
He had no choice but to shield himself with his arms instead, which left him open to attack by the Winter Soldier.
The Winter Soldier used the opening to take aim with his gun and fire several shots at him.
But before any of them could hit their mark, he was forced to dive for cover when Cap threw his shield at him, knocking his gun out of his hand and sending him flying across the room.
“You idiot,” Tony said as he grabbed ahold of Cap and threw him against the wall next to the Winter Soldier.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“I’m not going to let you hurt him,” Cap said as he lunged at Tony and grabbed hold of his arms before he could shoot him.
“You’re not leaving here alive,” Cap added as he used all his strength to hold Tony back and keep him from shooting him or the Winter Soldier.
“And you’re not leaving here alive,” Tony said as he struggled to break free of Cap’s grip and free himself from his grasp.
“Tony, watch out,” I said as I grabbed hold of my web shooters and tried to shoot Cap in the back before he could kill Tony or the Winter Soldier.
But he must have heard me coming, because he turned around and grabbed the web shooter before it could hit him, then yanked it out of my hand and threw it into a wall on the other side of the room before I could fire another shot at him.
“Why are you doing this?”
I asked as I tried to reason with him through the pain of having my web shooter jerked out of my hand like that.
But instead of answering me, he struck me across the face with his shield, then continued to beat me with it until I was finally able to grab it and knock it out of his hand so that I could shoot him again.
He tried to take it from me, but he wasn’t fast enough, and I was able to shoot him in the face before he could do anything to stop me.
“Kid, are you okay?”
Tony asked as I stumbled back a few steps before collapsing onto the ground and clutching my aching head in my hands.
I heard someone cry out in pain and looked up just in time to see Tony get struck down by Cap’s shield, which he’d managed to get ahold of while he’d been busy trying to help me up off the ground.
But the worst part about it was that Tony hadn’t seen it coming because he’d been too busy worrying about me and making sure I was okay after what he’d done to me earlier in the day.
“I can’t let you leave,” Cap said as he raised his shield over his head and prepared to strike Tony down once and for all.
“Then you’re going to have to kill me,” Tony said as he used all his strength to push himself up onto his hands and knees so that he could try to stand again before it was too late.
“But why?”
I asked as I made a last ditch effort to reason with him one more time before it was too late.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Why are you supporting them?”
Betrayal of the Shield
“Because they’re the good guys, and you know it,” I answered as I tried and failed to stand back up again after Cap kicked me in the side and knocked me back down onto the ground again before I could try anything else.
“But you’re not,” Cap said as he grabbed hold of my shoulders and forced me down onto the ground before I could try anything else and get in the way of what he was doing next.
“And you’re not a hero,” he added before he turned around and used his shield to knock Tony back down onto the ground again, then pinned him down and held it over his head so that he couldn’t do anything else to stop him from killing the Winter Soldier now that he finally had the chance to finish what he’d started earlier in the day after all.
“But you used to be,” I added before he could strike Tony down and take away everything we once stood for and fought together to protect from those who sought to destroy it and everything else we held near and dear in our hearts forevermore.
“What’s changed?”
“Everything,” Cap said as he aimed his shield at Tony’s chest and prepared to strike him down before it was too late and there was nothing any of us could do to bring him back from the darkness that had consumed everything we once stood for and fought for together side by side.
“And nothing,” he added as he finally did what he’d come here to do, and killed the Winter Soldier before the two of us could do anything else to save him from what was coming next after all.
Things only got worse after that for the two of us, because with the Winter Soldier gone, Cap no longer had a reason to hold back or spare us from the full extent of his wrath any longer.
Betrayal of the Shield
He was going to kill us too, and there was nothing we could do to stop him unless we were willing to kill him first.
Cap punched me in the face hard enough to make me see stars and sent me flying through the air and crashing hard into a wall.
I got up and wiped blood away from my mouth and tried to swing back into action before he could try to kill me again and kill someone else I cared about too.
I leapt through the air and snared his shield with my webs and wrenched it away from his arm and sent it flying across the room before he could use it against me.
I didn’t want to kill him, but I knew that he wasn’t going to stop until he’d killed all three of us if I didn’t do something to stop him right now.
Iron Man caught it and powered up his repulsors and charged in to attack before Cap could recover from losing his shield.
Cap punched Iron Man in the face and sent him flying across the room and crashing into a wall while I moved in to attack too.
He punched me in the face again and sent me flying across the room to crash into a wall too.
I wiped blood away from my mouth again and dodged his shield and kept moving and kept trying to fight even though I didn’t know how much longer I could keep going like this without getting killed.
I needed to buy Iron Man some time to recover so he could help me finish this before Cap finished me first.
I dodged his shield and tried to get inside his reach and tried to hit him where he was vulnerable but he kept blocking me and kept knocking me back and kept trying to kill me.
He knew all of my moves and he knew all of my weaknesses and he knew how to use them against me in ways that I could never have imagined or anticipated or prepared for.
I couldn’t get inside his reach and I couldn’t hit him where he was vulnerable and I couldn’t buy Iron Man any time to recover and I couldn’t keep going like this much longer.
I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep fighting him off like this before he finally did something that would put me down for good.
He charged at me and tried to hit me with his shield and I dodged it and dodged him too and somersaulted through the air and tried to hit him where he was vulnerable while he was off balance.
He blocked it and blocked me too and hit me in the face again and sent me flying through a wall and crashing into another room.
I got up and wiped blood away from my mouth again and tried to get back up and running before he could try to follow through the hole I’d made in the wall or try to hit me again.
“Is this fun for you?”
he asked me after he followed me inside and hit me in the face again before I could answer him.
“Do you really think you can beat me?”
he added as he punched me in the face again.
“This is over, Spider-Man,” he said as he punched me in the face again, “and you should have stayed out of it while you still had the chance!”
I’m glad that you think that, Cap,” I said as I bit back tears and blood and pain, “but I’m not going anywhere until you’re willing to listen or until you’re finally willing to put your shield down and come with us or until you’re willing to kill me first!”
I got up and wiped blood away from my mouth again and tried to get back up and running again before he could try to hit me again because it didn’t matter what it took because I was going to do whatever it took because we were fighting for everything we’d ever stood for together side by side after all.
