Steamy bedroom story
I took a sip of my drink and scanned the room in search of a cute guy who might be interested in buying me another one.
The bar was packed, and I was getting frustrated.
I was about to suggest that we find somewhere else to go when I spotted my ex-boyfriend, Tom, sitting at a table across the room.
He was talking and laughing with a group of people I didn’t recognize, but I knew that he often came to this bar with his friends, so it wasn’t surprising to see him there.
I’d been waiting for over an hour to meet my best friend, Sarah, and she was nowhere to be found.
I had a feeling that she’d forgotten about our plans, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.
I debated whether or not I should go say hi to him; we had ended things on good terms over a year ago, and I knew that he would be happy to see me.
But then I remembered that he had cheated on me with his ex-girlfriend, who he was now back together with.
She had been working a lot lately, and I knew that she was exhausted.
I was about to give up and go home when I felt someone bump into me from behind.
I decided that it was probably best if I avoided him altogether.
I turned around to see a tall man with sharp features and piercing blue eyes staring down at me.
I didn’t want to run into him when I was alone with Sarah; she could be a little overprotective of me sometimes, and I knew that she wouldn’t hesitate to cause a scene if she saw me talking to him.
I turned back around and saw that Sarah was on her phone, texting someone.
He looked like he was in his early thirties, and he was wearing a black suit that fit him perfectly.
“Who are you talking to?”
He had dark hair that was styled in a messy way that made him look like he’d just rolled out of bed, and he had a five o’clock shadow that made him look rugged and sexy.
I couldn’t help but stare at him as he apologized for bumping into me.
I asked as I took another sip of my drink.
“Watch where you’re going,” I said, trying to mask the attraction that I was feeling.
“I’m texting my roommate,” she said.
He gave me a lopsided grin and took a step closer to me.
“I told her that I’m out with you tonight and that I probably won’t be coming home since I have an early meeting tomorrow morning.
She wants to know if it’s okay if her boyfriend stays over tonight so they don’t have to worry about waking me up in the morning.”
“Sorry about that,” he said, dropping his voice so that only I could hear him.
I felt a shiver run down my spine, and I suddenly forgot all about my best friend and the fact that I’d been standing in the bar for over an hour without a drink.
I nodded my head in understanding as I looked around the bar again.
It was getting late, and I had a feeling that we weren’t going to meet any cute guys tonight; it seemed like most of them were either already taken or too drunk to hold a conversation.
I was about to respond when Sarah came rushing toward me.
I was about to suggest that we leave when I saw him: the man in the black suit from outside.
“I’m so sorry I’m late,” she said when she reached me.
He was standing at the bar, ordering another drink, his broad shoulders filling out his jacket perfectly.
“I had to stay at work longer than I thought I would.
Is that James?”
He had his back to me, but I could tell from the way he was standing that he was tall and muscular.
I turned around to see the man in the black suit walking away from us, his long legs eating up the distance between him and the exit.
I felt my heart start to beat faster in my chest as I watched him out of the corner of my eye.
He turned around to look at me one last time, and I felt my cheeks flush as I met his gaze.
There was something about him that made my entire body tingle with excitement, and I couldn’t look away from him even if I tried.
“Who’s James?”
He turned around to face the bar just as I was staring at him, and I felt my cheeks flush as our eyes met.
There was an electric charge between us that made my stomach do somersaults as I looked at him, and I felt a shiver run down my spine as he glanced in my direction and smiled at me before turning back around to take a sip of his drink.
I asked as I watched him walk away.
“How did you see him?”
“He’s not important,” she said, waving her hand in the air.
“I’ll make it up to you for being late.
Sarah asked when she caught me staring at him.
Why don’t you let me buy you a drink?
“He’s standing at the bar,” I said, pointing in his direction.
What are you having?”
She followed the direction of my finger and gasped when she saw him for herself.
Sarah always knew how to cheer me up, and I was grateful that she was there to distract me from the man who had just walked away.
“Emily Hart,” she said with a grin as she looked at me.
The bar was loud and crowded when we got inside, which was typical for a Friday night in the city.

I had been waiting for Sarah outside of the bar for over an hour, and my feet were killing me by the time she finally showed up.
“You’ve got to go talk to him.”
I was about to give up on her and go home when she appeared out of nowhere, apologizing profusely for being late.
I knew that it wasn’t her fault; she’d been working long hours at the law firm where she’d recently been hired, and I was just happy that she’d been able to get away for a night out.
“He’s so hot!”
We made our way to the bar and ordered drinks before finding an empty table to sit down at.
I said with a sigh as I watched him take another sip of his drink.
The bar was packed with people of all ages, from college students to young professionals celebrating the end of a long work week.
“Do you think he would be interested in me?”
She laughed and elbowed me in the ribs before taking another sip of her own drink.
Some people were sitting at tables with friends, while others were standing around talking and laughing with one another.

“Of course he would!”
she said with a smile.“Just go over there and talk to him!”
I chewed on my bottom lip for a moment as I thought about what I should do next.
I took a deep breath and smoothed down the front of my dress before taking another sip of my drink and sliding off of my stool.
I walked towards him slowly, trying not to trip over my own feet or spill my drink all over myself in the process.
The noise of the bar faded into the background as I focused on him, and it felt like we were the only two people there when I finally reached the bar and stood next to him.
I could smell his cologne then: a warm, spicy scent that made my knees feel weak when I breathed it in.
He turned to look at me with a smile on his face and I felt my heart stop for a moment.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
he asked with a smile.
The sound of his voice was deep and smooth, and it made me shiver when he spoke.
My cheeks flushed bright red as I looked up at him and tried to think of something to say.
“I’ll have a glass of white wine,” I said eventually.
He turned back to the bartender and ordered a glass of white wine for me and another beer for himself.
When our drinks arrived, he paid for them before turning back to look at me.
“You can sit down if you want,” he said with a smile as he gestured to one of the empty stools next to him.
“Thank you,” I said with a shy smile—I couldn’t believe that he was talking to me!
—and climbed up onto the stool next to him.
He was even hotter up close than he was from afar: he had sharp features and piercing blue eyes that made a shiver run down my spine when he looked at me.
He was tall and broad-shouldered with short brown hair and a rugged appearance that made my entire body tingle with excitement when I looked at him.
“Thank you,” I said again, taking a sip of my drink to hide the blush that was no doubt covering my face by then.
“It’s my pleasure,” he said with a smile.
“You looked like you could use one.”
I smiled at him again because I didn’t know what else to say when my heart was pounding so hard in my chest that I could barely hear myself think.
My skin was tingling with excitement and anticipation as I looked at him and tried to think of something else to say.
“What’s your name?”
he asked when he realized that I wasn’t going to speak until he did.
“My name is Emily,” I said with a smile.
“It’s nice to meet you Emily,” he said with a smile.
“My name is James.”
He held out his hand for me to shake then, and I took it with a grin before shaking it once before letting go.
“I like your name,” he said with a smile when he saw the blush that spread across my cheeks.
