An adult female in a hate relationship with a female enemy that turns into love
I hate her.
I hate the way she looks at me, I hate the way she talks to me, and I hate the way she makes me feel.
I hate that she’s so damn beautiful, and I hate that I can’t get her out of my head.
I hate that she’s my enemy.
And most of all, I hate that I’m in love with her.
It all started back in college.
Sarah Collins was the most popular girl on campus, and I was just a nobody.
But when we both got hired at Bennett Enterprises after graduation, the difference in our status became a lot more obvious.
She was the boss’s daughter, and I was just a lowly employee.
But that didn’t stop me from hating her guts.
When we were assigned to work together on a project, it was like a match had been lit.
Our hatred burned hot and fast—and before I knew it, we were in bed together.
That should have been the end of it.
But it didn’t work out that way.
One night wasn’t enough.
It’ll never be enough.
I can still remember the day I met Sarah Collins like it was yesterday.
It was the first day of my sophomore year in college, and I was settling into my dorm room, getting ready for the start of classes.
I was hoping to keep a low profile, but that dream was shattered when my best friend, Lucas Bennett, walked in wearing nothing but a towel.
“Where’s the party?”
He asked, dropping the towel to get dressed.
I put my hands over my eyes.
“Oh my God, Lucas!”
He threw his shirt on and grinned.
“It’s not like you haven’t seen me naked before.”
“That’s not the point,” I said.
“I’m trying to keep a low profile here.
I’m sure not all of your friends will be thrilled to see you walking around naked.”
Lucas chuckled as he pulled on his jeans.
“I don’t have that many friends, and they’ll just have to deal with me being naked.” He paused, looking at me with a wicked grin.
“But if you want me to put on some clothes, you’ll need to tell me where the party is.”
I laughed and tossed him his shirt.
“Do you know where Sarah Collins is?”
“Why would you want to know where she is?”
he asked as he pulled on his shirt.
“Well, you know.” I shrugged. “She’s gorgeous. And nice.I’d like to get to know her better.”
“Uh-huh…” Lucas said with a smile, clearly not believing me.
I didn’t blame him.
Sarah Collins was the most popular girl at our school, and she wouldn’t be caught dead hanging out with an ordinary person like me.
But that didn’t stop me from having a huge crush on her and hoping one day she might notice me.
Lucas gave me a knowing look as if he could read my mind.
“She’s pre-law,” he said, shaking his head as he combed his hair in the mirror.
“Good luck getting her to look your way.”
“I’ll keep my fingers crossed,” I said with a smile before I asked, “Where’s your sister?”
He glanced at his watch.
“Working late again.” He paused for a moment, looking at me carefully.
“You don’t have to worry about her or anything.
Sarah can be a real bitch, but she won’t be here much longer.”
I nodded, trying to keep my expression neutral.
Even though I wasn’t going to law school, I had no doubt Sarah would accomplish whatever she set her mind to.
And she certainly wouldn’t let any setbacks get her down.
That was just the type of person she was.
When Lucas left to go to his party, I got ready for bed.
The lights were out and I was lying in bed, trying to sleep, when the door opened and someone quickly walked in.
I sat up and turned on the light, blinking in surprise when I found Sarah Collins standing in front of me, wearing nothing but a towel.
She looked even more beautiful up close than she did from afar.
Her long blonde hair was wet and hung loose around her shoulders, and her blue eyes sparkled in the light.
She had a couple of bruises on her arms and one on her cheek, and her eyes were red from crying.
But even so, she was still more beautiful than anyone I knew.
“Are you okay?”

I shouted, dragging the blanket over my head to hide from her.
I was convinced my life had taken a turn for the worse when I found out Sarah, my nemesis, was going to work alongside me in the company we both got hired at after graduation.
It was bad enough that my boss was her father, but now I would have to see her every day, too?
“Just give her a chance,” Lucas said as he poured more beer into my glass.
“I don’t want to give her a chance,” I said, my eyes narrowing as I looked at him.
“She’s a bitch, and I hate her.”
“You don’t hate her,” Lucas said with a knowing smile.
I glared at him.
“What are you talking about?
I hate the way she makes me feel, and I hate that I want to be with her even though I know she’s going to break my heart.”
Lucas sighed as he sat next to me on his couch.
“You don’t know that for sure.”
“I do know it,” I said softly, drinking the rest of my beer before I stood up and grabbed my jacket off the chair next to the door.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going home,” I said, giving him a quick smile as I walked out the door.
It had been two years since our one-night stand, and Sarah and I hadn’t seen each other since then.
But I knew it was only a matter of time before we did, and it was better for everyone if it didn’t happen anytime soon.
The first time I met Sarah was at college orientation, and the two of us had a rocky start from the beginning.
It all started with a misunderstanding, when she caught me staring at her in the cafeteria, and she accused me of trying to steal her boyfriend away from her.
I tried to explain that she had nothing to worry about, and I wasn’t interested in dating anyone, let alone her boyfriend, but she wouldn’t listen.
Instead, she just got angrier and called me a whore before storming off to tell everyone else on campus what a slut I was.
I tried to lay low after that, but it only made things worse.
For some reason, everyone seemed to believe Sarah’s version of events and hated me just as much as she did.
Being the popular cheerleader, everyone wanted to be Sarah’s friend, and no one wanted to be mine.
Over the next few months, I tried to avoid her at all costs, but no matter what I did, I always ended up running into her in the most humiliating ways possible.
One night, I went to a party at a frat house and had a little too much to drink, and I ended up in a closet with a jockstrap tied around my head when Sarah walked in and found me like that.
She laughed at me, and I was mortified, realizing just how ridiculous I must have looked, but it only made her hate me more.
I wanted to die, and I hated her for making me feel that way.
After that, I started going to parties thrown by the football team so I’d be less likely to run into her, but that just made things worse, since guys were always trying to get me drunk so they could take advantage of me while I was vulnerable.

I knew Sarah hated me, and I wasn’t exactly her biggest fan either, but that didn’t stop me from wanting her all the same.
Sarah Collins had everything going for her; she was beautiful, popular, and smart, and everyone loved and admired her, including me.
I wasn’t sure when or how it happened, but I’d had a crush on her since the first time I saw her, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to shake it.
I tried to tell myself that it wasn’t possible and that I should give up on her already, but it didn’t do any good; I couldn’t change the way I felt about her no matter how hard I tried to fight it.
I didn’t want to be attracted to someone who hated me as much as Sarah did, but there was no denying that she was hot as hell, and I couldn’t help wanting her all the same.
I just wished there was something I could do about it so we could be friends instead of enemies like we were now.
It had been a long four years, but I’d finally graduated from college with my degree in marketing and was proud of what I’d accomplished so far.
I’d always been good at school and was an A-student growing up, but once I got to college, things changed and it was hard for me to keep it up for long when there were so many other things on my mind that distracted me from my studies.
Like my crush on Sarah that I tried so hard to ignore but couldn’t seem to let go of no matter how hard I tried to move on with my life and forget about her already.
I ended up finishing college with a 2.0 GPA, which was just enough to graduate after they rounded it up for me, and I was relieved to finally escape the campus that held so many bad memories for me in the past and start fresh somewhere new instead.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life after graduation and was planning on moving back in with my parents while I figured it out when Lucas’s father, Derrick Bennett, offered me a job at Bennett Enterprises and the chance of a lifetime to work for one of the most successful companies in the country.
He said he’d hired me because of my grades in school and because I was close to his son but had promised to fire me if I ever screwed up or embarrassed him or his company in any way, so I knew I had to be on my best behavior while working here and not let him down by making the same mistakes I did in the past again.
It wasn’t easy working at Bennett Enterprises when Sarah worked here too, but I tried to ignore her as best as I could and stay out of her way when I could help it so we wouldn’t have any problems while working together in the same office building too.
