The kingdom of Terranova
The name of my kingdom means new land, and it’s a fitting name for the mystical world I call home.
Terranova is a place of beauty and wonder, where the sun shines bright in the sky, and the moon glows like a beacon in the night.
It’s a place where magic is real, and mythical creatures roam free.
A place where gods and goddesses walk among us, and demigods harness their powers to protect our people from evil.
I am Teagan Constantine, daughter of Mack Constantine, Elder God and former king of Terranova.
I am also the daughter of Rebecca Ravoni, queen of Terranova.
My father is powerful and protective, while my mother is motherly and supportive.
I have an older brother named Daniel Constantine who is skilled in combat like me.
He is also next in line for the throne after my father abdicated his position as king to focus on his role as an Elder God.
My brother and I are both demigods with powers that come from our father’s side of the family.
I swing my twin Broadsword Cleavers through the air, blocking a strike from my older brother, Daniel.
He’s the future king of Terranova, and I’m his younger sister.
But don’t let my innocent face fool you.
I can kick ass with the best of them and give Daniel a run for his money any day of the week.
Today is no exception.
We’ve been training for hours, and our father, Mack Constantine, Elder God and former king of Terranova, is watching us closely like he always does.
I don’t know how he finds the time to keep up with us while ruling over his own kingdom, but he does, and he makes sure we never forget it.
“Come on, little sister,” Daniel taunts me.
I know you can do better than that.”
I scowl at him and swing my sword harder.
I’m getting tired of his shit-eating grin and ready to wipe it off his face.
But he’s my older brother, so I hold back and don’t go for the kill like I want to.
The sound of our swords clashing fills the air as we fight for dominance on the battlefield.
It’s a dance we’ve done many times before, and we both know each other’s moves like the back of our hands.
Our father expects nothing but the best from us, and we work hard to live up to his high standards every single day.
It’s not easy being a princess in a land filled with powerful warriors, but I thrive on it and wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love my family and my kingdom more than anything in this world, and I would do anything to protect them.
My mother, Rebecca Ravoni, is by my father’s side, watching us with a knowing smile on her face.
She’s the one who taught me how to fight like a girl, and she always tells me that it’s one of the best skills a woman can have in this world.
After all, it’s not like we can rely on men to get the job done for us.
Not that I have a problem with that.
I’m a strong, independent woman who can take care of herself just fine.
But it doesn’t hurt to have a hot warrior by my side either.
And right now, that warrior happens to be my older brother.
“Is that all you’ve got, little sister?” Daniel asks, taunting me with another one of his shit-eating grins.
I ignore him and focus on my technique.
I may not be as big as my brother, but I’m fast as hell and can hold my own against even the toughest of opponents.
I swing my sword in an arc and knock Daniels blade from his hand.
His eyes widen in surprise, and I take advantage of the opening and press my attack.
He manages to block my next strike, but I can see the frustration in his eyes as he struggles to keep up with me.
“Don’t underestimate me, big brother,” I say with a smug smile.
“You may be next in line for the throne, but I’ll never let you forget who’s really in charge around here.”
With each passing day, it becomes increasingly obvious that training with my brother, Daniel, is the right choice.
We are both demigods, which means we have a responsibility to use our powers for the greater good of Terranova.
It’s a heavy burden to bear, but it’s one we accept willingly, knowing that our sacrifices will make our kingdom a better place for future generations.
Our parents have had to make plenty of sacrifices of their own over the years, and it hasn’t always been easy for them.
But they love us and are proud of the people we’ve become, so it makes all the hard work worth it in the end.
“Are you ready for this?”
Daniel asks me as we continue sparring against each other.
“I’ve been ready since the day I was born,” I reply with a smirk.
“You know I can kick your ass with one hand tied behind my back.”
He rolls his eyes at me and raises his sword.
“Don’t get cocky now, little sister,” he warns me.
“Because you know I can take you down whenever I want.”
We go back and forth like this for a few more minutes before Daniel does something completely unexpected.
He drops his sword and wraps me in a bear hug, pulling me close to his chest and holding me tight.
His strength takes my breath away, both physically and metaphorically, as I rest my head against his shoulder and close my eyes.
“I love you, little sister,” he whispers.
“I know we don’t always see eye to eye, but I’m proud of the person you’ve become, and I know you’re going to do great things someday.”
I return his hug and hold him close to me, breathing in his familiar scent as I savor this moment between us.
It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it reminds me just how much I love my big brother.
Daniel has always been there for me, even when we were kids, and I know he always will be.
I’m grateful to have him by my side as we face our destiny together, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
He pulls away from me and plants a kiss on my cheek before stepping back and picking up his sword again.
“I let my guard down there for a second,” he says with a grin as he raises his weapon in the air and gets back into position.
“It won’t happen again.”
I smile at him and raise my own sword, ready to continue our training for the day.
My father watches us with a knowing smile on his face, proud of the warriors his children have become.
We have a long road ahead of us, but we’ll get there eventually.
My mother appears in front of me and for a second I think she’s going to scold us for breaking training.
A demigod princess should never let her guard down in the middle of a fight, after all.
Then I see the smile on her face and the softness in her eyes, and I know I have nothing to worry about.
She knows I would never let anything bad happen to me or my brother, not while she’s looking out for us.
She can read me like an open book and I can’t hide anything from her.
Which is good, because she’s the only person I feel comfortable sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings with.
She’s not only my queen; she’s also the person I confide in the most.
She’s always been there for me when I needed someone to talk to or when I was feeling scared or alone.
And right now, as the reality of what we’re up against starts to sink in, I need her more than ever.
“You’re going to have to face her someday,” she says gently as she places a hand on my cheek.
“I know,” I say with a nod.
“And I know how scary that is.
Nekrovana is a powerful goddess with a deadly army at her command, and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
But you are just as powerful and just as determined, and if anyone can stop her, it’s you and your brother.”
I let out a sigh and try to smile.
“Thanks, Mom,” I say with a weak laugh.
“I wish I had your confidence right now.
Because honestly, I’m terrified.”
“I would be worried about you if you weren’t,” she says with a knowing smile.
“Nekrovana is a formidable opponent, but so are you, and you have your father and I by your side to help you out.
We’ve been preparing you for this day since the moment you were born, and we’ll be here for you every step of the way.”
“I know,” I say with a nod.
“But it doesn’t make it any less scary.”
“I understand, sweetie,” she says with a sad smile.
“If it were up to me, I would keep you and your brother safe here in the palace forever and never let you leave my side.
But I also understand that it is your destiny to face Nekrovana, and there’s nothing I can do to stop you.
All I can do is teach you what I know and hope for the best.
And pray that all of our hard work will be enough to keep you safe.”
I lean into her touch and wrap my arms around her waist.
“Thank you for everything, Mom,” I whisper, my voice full of emotion.
“For believing in me and for always being there for me no matter what.
I love you so much.”
“And I love you too, sweetie,” she says, pulling me into a tight hug and holding me close for as long as I need.
“Now go finish your training, warrior princess,” she says after several moments have passed.
“You still have a lot of work to do before we can send you out into the world to face Nekrovana head on.”
I take a deep breath and step back from her with a small smile on my face.
“Right,” I say with a nod.
“Let’s get back to it.”
