I woke up to an official alert on my phone.
It read, "DO NOT LOOK AT THE MOON."
This was sent at 3 AM.
I had hundreds of notifications.
When I opened my messaging app, I saw that random numbers were sending the same message over and over.
They all read, "It's a beautiful night tonight. Look outside."
I was immediately cautious.
Who were these people and why were they messaging me?
Marked as spam, I deleted them all.
But then I wondered... why was I getting these messages?
Was it some kind of prank?
It seemed too global to be a prank though.
And what kind of prank would target individual phone numbers?
It had to be something bigger.
But what kind of thing could make every phone in the world receive messages?
And what kind of thing would make officials send an alert not to look at the moon?
I mean, the moon was just a big rock.
What could possibly be wrong with it that everyone couldn't look?
Mark wasn't awake yet.
He didn't receive any messages.
He thought it was ridiculous and went back to sleep.
But I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Something in my gut told me to look.
It was calling to me.
The moon was full today.
Full moons were special, even for non-believers of superstitions.
Even Mark said he felt strange during full moons.
