I was unpacking my new bag when Mia called.
"Hey, what’s up?"
Mia and I were friends since high school.
In our senior year, she finally made it onto the cheerleading squad after trying out three years in a row.
Her last attempt failed miserably with an embarrassing tumble during tryouts, but the head coach felt sorry for her and gave her a spot anyway as an alternate.
She got to wear the uniform but rarely got to actually perform during games unless one of the regular girls got sick or hurt.
That aside, we remained close throughout college despite going to different institutions and studying different majors; she into communications and me into computer science.
Now that we both graduated back home two years ago, it seemed like we hung out less often than before even though there shouldn’t have been any change.
It might’ve had something to do with our work schedules conflicting or us simply growing apart over time for whatever reason.
