Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma

Scenario:I'm a man who bought a wonder woman costume at a weird out of the way shop the night before halloween. I planned on wearing it for the company costume party the following night. The next day I tried it on to see how it fit and how I'd look in it. I was surprised how good I looked and how natural that I looked in it. I couldnt get over how much I looked like that was I was really her. My friends would be shocked tonight at the party for sure. Satisfied, I attempted to take it off. Much to my surprise, it didnt want to come off....almost like it had become a part of me. What was going on here?. This couldnt be real....could it?. Was I missing something or had I really become wonder woman?.

Chapter 1
I was never a fan of superheroes.
I mean, I liked the movies and all, but I wasn’t one of those people who dressed up for the premieres or anything.
So when my friend Sarah told me she was going to a superhero-themed party and asked if I wanted to come along, I said sure.
It sounded like fun, and it would be a good chance to hang out with her and Mark outside of work.
The only problem was that I didn’t have a costume.
I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on something I’d only wear once, so I decided to check out the thrift store near my apartment.
Perfect.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I wasn’t sure how authentic it was—probably not very—but it would do for one night.
And if nothing else, it would give Sarah and Mark something to laugh at.
I paid for the costume and headed home to try it on.
It was only when I looked in the mirror that things started to get weird.
The costume fit me perfectly, but as I stood in front of my bedroom mirror with my hands on my hips, something strange happened: the outfit seemed to come alive and crawl up my body like some kind of sentient being.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I could feel it moving against my skin, tightening around my waist and hips, pushing my pecs together as they expanded.
But that wasn’t the weirdest part.
The weird part was what happened next: I watched in shock as the rest of my body began to change, too.
My arms became slimmer and more feminine, while my legs grew longer and more shapely.
My hair started to grow as well; long and black falling down almost all the way down to my waist.
And then there were my eyes—my bright blue eyes had been replaced with dark brown ones—and… other things.
I stepped closer to inspect them from up close and gasped when I did so; they were huge, round orbs that seemed to defy gravity by themselves.
There was no doubt about it:
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Come with me," my friend and coworker Sarah said, "It’ll be fun!"
I raised an eyebrow.
"You’re going to a superhero party?"
She nodded.
"It’s this weekend. My friend’s throwing it."
I chuckled.
"I didn’t know you were into that kind of thing."
She shrugged.
"I’m not really. But it sounds like fun."
"And you want me to come along?"
"Of course! You’re my friend. And Mark is coming too." "Mark?"
My other coworker and close friend was into comics and superheroes the way most guys were into sports.
He was always going on about the latest comic book or superhero movie he’d seen.
But why would he go to a superhero party with us?
"Yep," Sarah said with a grin.
"He’s going as ‘The Quizzler’."
I laughed.
"Of course he is."
Mark had been obsessed with comics for as long as I’d known him.
In fact, it was one of the reasons he’d wanted to start his own ad agency: so he could work with companies that produced comic books and graphic novels.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
My family had been in the business for years, and when I’d graduated from college, they’d offered me a job.
I had originally planned on going into art or design, but that didn’t work out, so I’d decided to give advertising a try instead.
And as it turned out, I was pretty good at it.
So good, in fact, that Sarah and Mark had come to me for help with their own projects before we’d even graduated.
When we finished school, we decided to start our own agency: Jennings & Collins Advertising.
It was tough at first, but we worked hard and eventually built up a decent client base.
Six months ago, we’d moved to the city and opened our first office together.
It wasn’t anything fancy; just a small space in one of the older buildings downtown.
But it was ours, and that was all that mattered.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Sarah and Mark were both great friends as well as business partners, which was why I didn’t mind going to this stupid party.
The only problem was that unlike them, I didn’t have a superhero alter ego.
I’d always been more of a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, anyway.
While they were out fighting crime and saving the world, I was back at the office working on our latest campaign.
But now Sarah wanted me to go to this party with her, and I didn’t have anything to wear.
I only had two days before the party, so there wasn’t much time.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I told her excitedly, admiring myself in the mirror.
The costume fit me perfectly and looked amazing, even if it was a little over-the-top.
I’d never worn anything like it before, but I could definitely see the appeal.
It was tight in all the right places, and the colors really stood out.
If I was being honest with myself, I kind of liked it.
My mom always said that I had good legs, and this costume showed them off perfectly.
I posed in front of the mirror for a few more minutes, admiring my new look from every angle.
Then I twirled around, just for fun…That’s when things got weird.
As I turned in a circle, something strange happened to the costume.
It started to glow, suddenly becoming brighter and brighter until I had to shield my eyes from the light.
"Sarah, what’s happening?!"
I called out in panic as the room filled with blinding whiteness.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
When the light finally faded and my vision cleared, I looked at myself in the mirror and gasped.
I’d changed—completely.
My body was no longer tall and lean; instead, I had curves in all the right places.
The Wonder Woman outfit fit me perfectly, but that wasn’t what shocked me.
What really freaked me out were the breasts.
They were definitely not part of my normal anatomy.
Lifting up the long black hair that cascaded over my shoulders like a waterfall, I saw that my face had changed too.
My features were softer and more feminine than before, with full lips and large dark eyes.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
This had to be some kind of joke…right?
"Sarah? It's Jason. You have to get over here," I told her as soon as she picked up the phone.
"Is everything okay?"
She sounded groggy, like she’d just woken up.
"It is now!"
I said frantically, my heart still pounding from whatever had just happened to me.
"I need your help."
"Jason? Is that you?"
Sarah asked incredulously.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Yeah, it's me," I replied.
"And I know this is going to sound crazy, but…""Why are you calling me at six o'clock in the morning?" she asked, interrupting me.
"Wait a minute…why do you sound like a girl?"
I could almost hear her frown on the other end of the line.
"That's not important right now," I said impatiently.
"I need you to come over. It's an emergency."
"Okay, okay. I'm coming."
Sarah must have heard the panic in my voice, because she didn’t ask any more questions.
She just hung up and rushed over to my place as fast as she could.
A few minutes later, she was pounding on the door to my apartment.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Chapter 2
"Jason!" she called out as she flung the door open and rushed inside.
"What's going on? Are you okay?"
I turned around and saw Sarah standing in the doorway, dressed in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.
Her long blonde hair was tangled from sleep, but she looked wide awake now that I’d told her it was an emergency.
Her eyes went wide as soon as she saw me, and her jaw dropped open in shock.
"Jason…what happened to you?" she breathed.
I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Sarah just stood there, staring at me with a mixture of disbelief and confusion.
I couldn't blame her; this was the craziest thing that had ever happened to me.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she spoke again.
"Are you sure this isn't some kind of prank?" she asked, looking around for hidden cameras.
I understand why she'd think that; if I’d seen this on TV, I wouldn’t have believed it either.
But as far as I could tell, there were no cameras in my apartment—just Sarah and me…and Wonder Woman.
"I don't see how," I said helplessly.
"It's not like you can just buy a costume that turns you into a woman. This has to be some kind of magic…or something." "Does it hurt?" she asked, walking over to me slowly, as if she thought I might explode at any moment.
"Do you feel weird? Confused?"
"I feel fine," I told her.
"Just really confused."
I wasn’t scared yet; it all seemed so surreal.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Sarah led me back to the living room and sat me down on the couch so we could talk about what had happened.
As I tried to explain my transformation, I realized that there was something even weirder going on than I’d thought.
This wasn't just a costume; somehow, I'd actually become Wonder Woman herself!
It was crazy…and completely impossible.
But after everything that had happened this morning, I couldn’t deny it any longer.
I was a man—or at least I used to be—but now I was also a superheroine.
My mind reeled as I struggled to make sense of what that meant for me—and for Wonder Woman.
"What am I going to do?" "We'll figure this out," Sarah said firmly, putting a hand on my shoulder to reassure me. "We just have to stay calm."
"I can't believe this is real," I whispered, still in shock.
"I don't know how this happened or why…but here we are." "It's going to be okay," she said soothingly.
"We'll get through this together."
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Are you sure you’re okay?"
Sarah asked me again as we drove toward her apartment.
I could hear the concern in her voice; she knew that I was freaking out about all of this and wanted to make sure I was handling it well…or at least as well as I could.
"I'm fine," I said for what felt like the hundredth time since my transformation.
"I mean…I'm still me on the inside. It's just weird looking like this."
My voice sounded different too—softer and more feminine than before.
That was strange enough, but at least it didn't feel like my whole world was crumbling down around me.
Still, if anyone else heard me talk like this…
"Well, I know it's going to take some getting used to," Sarah said matter-of-factly.
"But you're definitely handling it better than I would be if I were in your shoes."
She glanced over at me with a small smile.
"I know you look different now…but when I see you like this, I still see Jason. You're not a stranger or anything."
I smiled back weakly, grateful for her support.
She made everything seem less scary somehow—even turning into a superheroine!
"So what do we do now?" she asked after a moment.
"Do you want to go back to your place and try to figure things out? Or maybe we can find somewhere else for you to stay until we come up with a plan."
I shook my head slowly.
"I don't think moving away is really an option," I said grimly.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Wherever I go, people are going to notice that Wonder Woman isn’t around anymore. And eventually, they'll figure out who I really am."
"So what? You just hide in your apartment for the rest of your life?"
Sarah asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That doesn't sound like much fun."
I frowned; she had a point.
But what other choice did I have?
"I don't know," I muttered.
"But I definitely can't go back to work like this."
After a moment's thought, Sarah smiled at me, looking as if she'd just come up with a brilliant idea.
"Maybe we should go see Mark. He's working at the comic book store today, and he probably knows more about superheroes than anyone else I know."
I looked at her curiously.
"You think he can help us?"
She shrugged.
"I don't know for sure. But it can't hurt to ask."
I hesitated; even though Mark was a good friend of mine too, I didn't exactly want him—or anyone else—to see me like this.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
But Sarah was right.
I couldn't just hide in my apartment for the rest of my life and hope that this whole mess would blow over eventually.
If Mark really did have some information that could help me, then it was definitely worth talking to him about it.
"All right," I said reluctantly.
"I guess it can't hurt to ask what he thinks."
"Great!"
Sarah said cheerfully, smiling at me again.
"We'll go after he's done with work. That way, the store won't be too crowded when we get there."
Sounded good to me—I didn’t want anyone else to see me like this!
"Thanks for doing this, by the way," I told her gratefully.
"I've never been so glad to have a friend like you before."
She smiled back at me, patting my shoulder reassuringly as she pulled onto the freeway.
"No problem. We'll figure this out together." "Okay, wait…"
I said as Sarah walked toward her car in the parking garage after work.
"Do you seriously expect me to ride all the way across town like this?"
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Surely you remember playing 'car blanket' as a kid? It’s not that hard."
I groaned; she was right, of course.
But that didn't make the idea any more appealing to me at that moment.
In all honesty, it made me feel like a little kid again, hiding under my blankets so the monsters couldn’t get me.
And if Mark couldn't help us figure out how to reverse this whole transformation thing…well, there might be some very big and very real monsters after us soon enough!
"Let's just get this over with," I muttered finally, climbing into the backseat of her car and pulling the blanket over my head as best as I could.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Sarah shook her head in amusement before climbing into the driver’s seat and pulling out of the garage.
We made a quick stop so she could change into her Supergirl costume for the work party before continuing on to the comic shop.
As soon as Sarah parked in front of the store and turned off the engine, she hopped out of the car again and opened one of the back doors to let me out.
"You look fine," she told me as soon as I’d climbed out from under my blanket and shut the door behind me to avoid any prying eyes on the street.
"Just…different. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing."
"Yeah, tell that to everyone who's going to see me like this," I muttered gloomily as we walked toward our destination.
"And here comes our first victim now!"
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
A voice called out just then, and I turned to see Mark Collins striding across the sidewalk toward us with a huge grin on his face.
"Hey guys! You made it! Even if you are a little late."
I managed a small smile in return, but Mark's expression quickly changed from excitement to shock once he got close enough to notice my appearance.
"Oh, wow," he muttered, staring at me with wide eyes.
"You weren't kidding when you said you found a cool costume, Sarah."
"Nope," she replied, shaking her head.
"We definitely weren't kidding."
Mark raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
As if on cue, I stepped forward and threw open my arms so he could get a good look at me from every angle.
"Jason…is Wonder Woman?" he asked finally, after a long pause during which his brain seemed to be trying—and failing—to process the situation.
"But how? What happened?" "That's what we're trying to figure out," Sarah explained quickly before Mark could start asking more difficult questions that neither of us had the answers for yet.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Chapter 3
"Stop right there," I told him firmly, catching his arm before he could walk away.
"I'm not bringing my clothes off with you. They stay on me. No one’s going to see me naked!"
Mark shot an amused glance at Sarah, who coughed and looked away in embarrassment, but he didn’t argue with me.
"Fine, fine," he said after a moment, raising his hands in surrender before turning back to face me with a more serious expression on his face.
"I promise I'll do everything I can think of to help you figure this thing out."
"Thanks," I muttered quietly, avoiding eye contact with him or Sarah as they both gave me sympathetic looks.
I knew it wasn't their fault that this had happened—or that neither of them seemed able to resist poking fun at my predicament—but that didn’t make it any easier for me to deal with.
Becoming Wonder Woman was every comic book nerd's dream come true…but it was pretty much the exact opposite of what I wanted for myself.
After examining the costume one last time, Mark took a step back and looked up at me thoughtfully for a moment before speaking again.
"So…can you fly?"
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"I don't know," I replied, shaking my head.
"Like I told Sarah earlier, I just woke up like this a couple of hours ago. I haven't tried out any of Wonder Woman's powers yet, and I'm not sure now is the best time to start."
Mark nodded in understanding before turning back toward me and gesturing at the costume with one hand.
"Well, it looks like there are some pretty strong magic vibes coming off of this thing," he pointed out.
"So my guess is that whatever did this to you has something to do with it. If you're going to have any chance of getting back to normal, I think we need to keep it here overnight so I can run some tests on it in the morning."
"Do you…do you really think that'll help?"
I asked hesitantly, glancing down at my body again and trying not to imagine what the next day would be like if Mark couldn’t find a way to reverse all of this by then.
"I hope so," Mark replied sincerely as Sarah squeezed my shoulder reassuringly from behind me.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"Like I said, I'll try everything. But if this really is the result of some kind of magical curse, I'm not sure how much good science will be able to do us…"
I nodded in agreement.
But even though I was still pretty skeptical, I found myself starting to believe that Mark might actually be able to help after all.
He was easily the biggest comic book nerd I knew—but he also happened to be one of the smartest people I’d ever met, with an encyclopedic knowledge of just about everything related to magic and superheroes alike.
"If you don't mind leaving it here with me for the night," Mark continued apologetically as he gestured at my new costume, "I'll get started on researching it first thing tomorrow morning."
"Please say yes," Sarah whispered in my ear as she leaned around me and gave Mark her best puppy dog eyes.
"Fine," I muttered ruefully, finally nodding in agreement.
"But this better work. And you'd better not tell anyone about this, or else…"
"I swear on my collection, not a single word will pass my lips!" he replied with an exaggerated flourish.
"Besides, if anybody found out that my friend Jason was really Wonder Woman now, they'd probably give me the old one-way ticket to Arkham!"
Sarah shook her head in amusement at Mark's antics before turning back to face him with a serious expression on her face.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
"What?" I asked, startled.
"You're going to read it?"
Mark and I exchanged a glance before shaking our heads in unison.
"No way!"
We both knew that if Mark was left to his own devices, he would spend the entire night reading through every page of the ancient text he’d found on his own.
So after making him promise to get some sleep at some point, we finally said our farewells and made our way back out into the night.
The next day was one of the longest workdays I’d ever had to endure.
Between constantly being interrupted by coworkers who wanted to know why I hadn’t gone back into hiding after last night’s disastrous party and not having any idea whether or not Mark would even be able to help me, it was all I could do just to focus on my job.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
So when Mark finally called me late that afternoon to give me an update on his progress, it felt like a godsend.
"Jason!" he shouted as soon as I picked up my phone.
"I did it! I found out what’s happening to you!"
"You did?"
I asked eagerly, leaning back in my chair and letting out a long breath of relief.
My heart was practically beating out of my chest with anticipation as I waited for him to tell me how he could help me reverse all of this.
But after hearing Mark’s next words, I knew there wasn’t going to be any easy fix for this problem.
"Yep! And prepare yourself because you are not going to believe it," he laughed excitedly before catching his breath and saying, "Your costume is magic!"
I blinked in disbelief at Mark’s words before turning to look at the phone in my hand like I’d never seen a cell phone before.
"Of course it’s magic; that’s why I’m stuck like this!"
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I wanted to shout at him, but I knew he was only trying to help.
So I took a deep breath and waited for him to continue.
"Jason, you’re never going to believe this," he said again with an excited laugh.
"Aphrodite herself once enchanted a woman's outfit so that it would transform whoever wore it into Wonder Woman, giving them most of her powers and abilities! But the cool thing is that the woman who wore it didn’t have to go through any of the physical changes Diana Prince did. So you get to keep your new body when you turn back into yourself."
"That’s…"
I paused for a moment, taking in everything Mark had just told me before asking incredulously, "That really happened?"
"I wouldn't have believed it myself if it weren't for all the magic coming off of your costume," he replied.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
Mark laughed at my question before explaining, "I thought you’d ask that so I already talked to them about it. They said the only way to reverse the magic is to wear the costume again and say a spell in Greek."
"Oh, well that doesn’t sound too bad," I replied with a smile, relieved that there was finally a way to fix all of this.
"Wait, what was that last part?"
I froze, suddenly realizing I may have misheard him.
"They said you need to say a spell in Greek. If you don’t know it then you’re out of luck," Mark explained.
My shoulders slumped at Mark’s words as my brain processed every possible outcome of this situation.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I needed to wear the costume again and recite a spell in Greek if I wanted to turn back into myself, but there was no telling whether or not I’d ever be able to reverse this.
"I’m never going to be normal again," I whispered quietly, suddenly feeling like the weight of the world was on my shoulders.
"No, that’s not what I meant," he quickly corrected me.
"As long as you don’t wear the costume there's no rush to turn back into yourself. The magic isn’t going to last forever so just wait until you figure out how you’re going to handle this before you try anything. You've got nothing to worry about!"
I took in everything Mark had just told me with a nod and a smile, but it didn’t take long for those feelings of relief to disappear as soon as he hung up the phone.
Looking back on it now, those may have been famous last words because things have only gotten worse since then.
As soon as Mark finished talking about Aphrodite and her special gift for Wonder Woman it felt like all of the air had been sucked out of the room.
Costume of Power: The Wonder Man Dilemma
I had so many questions and doubts running through my mind, but I didn’t want to burden Mark with all of them after he’d given me the news.
So after thanking him for his help, I let him go and started preparing for the trip I would be taking with Sarah’s family the next day.
She had invited me to go up to their lake house for the weekend because they were planning on having a party with some of their friends.
And since her parents never really went up there anymore, she wanted me to tag along so we could spend some time together.
It should have been a fun way to get closer before I decided whether or not I was ready to take this relationship to the next level, but now I only had two things on my mind: how am I going to explain this situation without freaking everyone out, and how am I going to keep Sarah from getting any ideas while I’m stuck like this?
"You know, Jason, you’re almost thirty years old. You need to settle down before it’s too late."
