I’m a lesbian, who meets a gorgeous woman by chance.
I was sitting at the coffee shop, sipping on my iced caramel macchiato, when she walked in.
She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
Her long flowing brown hair, hazel eyes, and perfect lips made me want to run my fingers through her hair and kiss those lips.
I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she ordered her coffee and sat down at a table near the window.
I watched her from across the room, hoping that she would look up and see me staring at her.
She was so captivating that I didn’t even notice when my best friend Alex sat down across from me.
"Earth to Emily," he said, waving his hand in front of my face.
"Are you in there?"
I blinked a few times and looked at him.
"What?"
"You’ve been staring at that girl for like ten minutes," he said with a laugh.
"I was starting to think you were in a trance or something."
I felt my face flush with embarrassment as I looked back over at the woman.
She was still sitting at the table, reading a book and sipping on her coffee.
"I can’t help it," I said with a sigh.
"She’s so beautiful."
Alex followed my gaze to the woman and whistled.
Unexpected Infatuation
"Wow, you’re not kidding," he said.
"She’s stunning."
I nodded, unable to tear my eyes away from her.
"You should go talk to her," Alex suggested, nudging me with his elbow.
I shook my head vigorously.
"No way. I can’t just walk up to her and start a conversation."
"Why not?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What’s the worst that could happen?"
"I don’t know," I mumbled.
"She could think I’m weird or something."
Alex chuckled.
"Emily, you’re overthinking this. Just go say hi. You never know what might happen."
I bit my lip, feeling a mix of excitement and fear bubbling up inside me.
"What would I even say?"
Alex shrugged.
"Just be yourself. Ask her about her book or something."
I glanced back at the woman, who was now flipping through the pages of her book with a serene expression on her face.
My heart raced at the thought of approaching her.
"I can’t do it," I said finally, slumping back in my chair.
Alex sighed.
"You’re going to regret it if you don’t at least try."
I knew he was right, but my feet felt like they were glued to the floor.
Unexpected Infatuation
I imagined various scenarios in my head—walking up to her and introducing myself, complimenting her on her choice of book, asking if she came here often—but each one ended with me chickening out.
As I sat there, paralyzed by indecision, I noticed the woman glancing at her watch and starting to gather her things.
Panic surged through me as I realized she was about to leave.
"She’s leaving!" I whispered urgently to Alex.
He gave me a pointed look.
"This is your chance, Emily. Go!"
Taking a deep breath, I stood up on shaky legs.
My heart pounded in my chest as I took a tentative step toward her table.
But before I could take another step, the door to the coffee shop swung open and a tall man walked in.
He made a beeline for the woman’s table and leaned down to kiss her on the cheek.
My heart sank as I watched them exchange a few words and laugh together.
They looked so comfortable with each other, like they had known each other for years.
Defeated, I turned back to Alex and sank into my chair.
"It’s too late," I said quietly.
Alex frowned.
"Maybe she’s just a friend or something. You don’t know for sure."
Unexpected Infatuation
But deep down, I knew he was just trying to make me feel better.
The connection between them was undeniable.
As they stood up to leave together, the woman glanced in my direction and our eyes met for a brief moment.
A small smile played on her lips before she turned away and walked out of the coffee shop with the man.
I felt a pang of disappointment as I watched them go.
I had missed my chance.
But just as I was about to give up hope entirely, something unexpected happened.
The woman stopped at the door and turned back toward me.
She reached into her bag and pulled out a small piece of paper, scribbling something on it before handing it to the man beside her.
He nodded and walked back into the coffee shop, heading straight for my table.
"Excuse me," he said politely, holding out the piece of paper.
"This is for you."
With trembling hands, I took the note from him and unfolded it.
My eyes widened as I read the words written in elegant handwriting: "Meet me here tomorrow at 3 PM. - Sophia"
Unexpected Infatuation
I looked at Alex, who was grinning widely.
"Looks like you have a date," he said, nudging me playfully.
I could barely contain my excitement, but nerves were gnawing at me too.
"What if I mess it up?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly.
Alex rolled his eyes and laughed.
"You'll be fine, Emily. Just be yourself."
The next day, I arrived at the coffee shop early.
My hands were trembling as I pushed open the door.
The familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of cups.
I scanned the room and spotted Sophia sitting at a corner table, looking even more stunning than before.
She wore a simple yet elegant dress that accentuated her graceful figure.
Her hair cascaded over her shoulders in soft waves, and her hazel eyes sparkled as she looked up and saw me.
Taking a deep breath, I walked over to her table.
"Hi," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Sophia smiled warmly, and my heart fluttered.
"I'm glad you came," she said softly.
I sat down across from her, our eyes locking in an intense gaze.
For a moment, it felt like the world around us faded away.
Unexpected Infatuation
"I wasn't sure if you'd show up," she admitted, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of her coffee cup.
"I almost didn't," I confessed with a nervous laugh.
"But I'm really glad I did."
Sophia's smile widened, and she leaned forward slightly.
"Me too. So, tell me about yourself, Emily."
We spent the next hour talking about everything and nothing at all.
I told her about my job as a graphic designer and my love for painting in my free time.
She shared stories about her travels and her passion for photography.
As we talked, I couldn't help but notice how easy it was to be around her.
Her laughter was infectious, and her genuine interest in what I had to say made me feel special.
At one point, our hands brushed against each other on the table, sending a jolt of electricity through me.
I glanced up to see Sophia blushing slightly, and it made my heart skip a beat.
"So," she said after a pause. "Do you come here often?"
I chuckled. "Actually, yes. It's my favorite spot to unwind."
"Mine too," she replied with a smile. "Maybe we were destined to meet here."
Just then, the barista called out an order from behind the counter, breaking our little bubble of connection for a moment.
I glanced over to see Alex waving at me from across the room with an exaggerated thumbs-up.
Unexpected Infatuation
Sophia followed my gaze and laughed softly. "Is that your friend?"
"Yeah," I said with a grin. "That's Alex. He's been pushing me to talk to you since yesterday."
"Well," Sophia said thoughtfully. "I'm glad he did."
We continued talking until our coffees were long gone and the afternoon sun began to cast golden rays through the windows.
Reluctantly, I glanced at my watch and realized it was getting late.
"I should probably get going," I said reluctantly. "But I'd love to do this again sometime."
Sophia's eyes lit up. "I'd like that too. How about next week? Same time?"
"Perfect," I replied with a smile.
As we stood up and gathered our things, Sophia reached out and gently touched my arm.
"Thank you for today," she said softly. "It was wonderful."
"Thank you," I replied sincerely. "I had an amazing time."
We walked out of the coffee shop together, exchanging one last smile before going our separate ways.
As I watched her walk down the street, my heart swelled with hope and excitement for what might come next.
Suddenly, someone bumped into me from behind, causing me to stumble forward.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" a man shouted angrily as he hurried past me.
I turned back to see Sophia looking over her shoulder with concern etched on her face.
Unexpected Infatuation
I glanced back to see the angry passerby staring at me.
Sophia noticed and gently touched my arm, offering reassurance.
"Are you okay?" she asked, her voice soft and calming.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied, trying to shake off the discomfort.
We walked together to the bus stop, our conversation light but tinged with an unspoken tension.
The streets were busy with people rushing home from work, the city lights beginning to flicker on as dusk settled in.
Cars honked in the distance, and the air was filled with the scent of street food from nearby vendors.
As we waited at the bus stop, Sophia leaned in closer, her hazel eyes searching my face.
"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked again, her concern evident.
I nodded, forcing a smile. "Really, I'm fine. Just a little shaken up."
She gave me a reassuring squeeze on my arm. "If you say so."
The bus arrived with a loud hiss of brakes, and we boarded together, sitting close to each other near the back.
Unexpected Infatuation
The interior of the bus was dimly lit, with a few passengers scattered throughout.
The seats were worn but comfortable enough for the short ride ahead.
I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety as I wondered about our next meeting.
Sophia's presence was comforting, yet I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
"So," Sophia said, breaking the silence. "What are your plans for the rest of the evening?"
I shrugged. "Probably just going to relax at home. Maybe watch a movie or something."
"That sounds nice," she replied with a smile. "Any recommendations?"
I thought for a moment. "Have you seen 'Amélie'? It's one of my favorites."
Her eyes lit up. "I love that movie! It's so charming and whimsical."
We continued chatting about our favorite films and TV shows as the bus made its way through the city streets.
The rhythmic hum of the engine and the gentle sway of the bus were almost soothing.
As we approached my stop, I felt a pang of disappointment that our time together was coming to an end.
Unexpected Infatuation
"This is me," I said, standing up and grabbing onto the handrail for support.
Sophia stood up as well. "I'll walk you to your door."
We stepped off the bus and onto the sidewalk, the cool evening air refreshing against my skin.
My apartment building was just a short walk away, its brick facade illuminated by streetlights.
As we reached my front door, I turned to face Sophia.
"Thanks for walking me home," I said sincerely.
"Anytime," she replied with a warm smile. "I'm really looking forward to next week."
"Me too," I said, feeling a flutter of excitement in my chest.
Sophia leaned in and gave me a quick hug before stepping back.
"Goodnight, Emily."
"Goodnight, Sophia."
I watched her walk away until she disappeared around the corner.
With a contented sigh, I unlocked my door and stepped inside.
Just as I closed the door behind me, my phone buzzed in my pocket.
I pulled it out to see a message from Alex: "How did it go?"
A smile spread across my face as I typed out my reply: "It went great! We're meeting again next week."
