Me and my crush got stuck in a closet during a lock down in school that lasted for 4 hours
I’d had a crush on Jake Thompson for as long as I could remember.
He was the tall, blonde, and handsome star of our high school’s football team.
I was the short, shy, and quiet girl with curly brown hair who sat in the back of the classroom and never said a word.
Jake was everything I wasn’t.
He was outgoing, popular, and confident.
I was…well, none of those things.
But that didn’t stop me from dreaming about him.
And it certainly didn’t stop me from staring at him every chance I got.
Like right now, for instance.
Trapped with My Crush
Jake was walking down the hallway, his backpack slung over one shoulder, chatting animatedly with his friends.
I was pretending to read my history textbook, but my eyes kept drifting back to him.
Suddenly, the lockdown alarm blared through the school, a deafening wail that sent everyone into a frenzy.
"Lockdown! Everyone, find shelter immediately!" the principal's voice echoed through the intercom.
Panic surged through the hallway.
Students screamed and scattered in all directions.
I stood frozen for a moment, unsure of what to do.
Then I felt a hand grab mine.
"Emily, come on!" Jake's voice was urgent, pulling me out of my stupor.
He dragged me down the hall, weaving through the chaos.
We reached a small supply closet and Jake yanked the door open.
"Get in!" he ordered.
I stumbled inside, and he followed, slamming the door shut behind us.
The lock clicked into place with an ominous finality.

We were plunged into darkness.
My heart pounded in my chest, not just from fear but from being so close to Jake.
I could hear his breathing, shallow and quick like mine.
"It's going to be okay," Jake said softly, his voice steady despite the tension in the air.
I nodded even though he probably couldn’t see me.
I wanted to say something comforting back, but my shyness held me back.
Instead, I focused on calming my racing heart.
Minutes passed in silence.
The only sounds were our breaths and the muffled chaos outside.
Jake shifted beside me, and I felt his arm brush against mine.
"You know," he began quietly, "I've always been scared of tight spaces."
His confession surprised me.
Jake Thompson, afraid?
It seemed impossible.
"When I was a kid," he continued, "I got stuck in an elevator for hours. Ever since then, small spaces freak me out."
I found my voice at last. "That must have been terrifying."
Trapped with My Crush
"It was," he admitted. "But talking about it helps."
His honesty gave me a surge of courage.
If Jake could share his fears with me, maybe I could share something too.
"Jake," I started hesitantly. "There's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time."
He turned towards me in the darkness. "What is it?"
My heart hammered in my chest. "I... I like you. I've liked you for as long as I can remember."
There was a pause that felt like an eternity.
Then Jake's hand found mine in the dark and squeezed gently.
"I like you too, Emily," he said softly. "I've always noticed you. You're different from everyone else. In a good way."
A wave of relief washed over me.
The tension shifted from fear to excitement as we sat there together, waiting out the lockdown.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang on the door.
We both jumped.
"Who's in there?" a gruff voice demanded from outside.

He quickly opened the door, and Mr. Harris's stern face appeared in the dim light of the hallway.
"Out, both of you," he said urgently, ushering us out of the closet.
We stepped into the hallway, which was dimly lit by the emergency lights.
My heart was still pounding from both fear and excitement.
"The lockdown was a false alarm," Mr. Harris explained, his voice low but firm. "But you need to stay quiet and head to the main hall."
Jake and I exchanged relieved glances, our hands still intertwined.
The tension in my chest eased a bit, knowing we were safe.
As we walked towards the main hall, I noticed how quiet the school had become.

The usual bustling noise was replaced by an eerie silence.
The flickering lights cast long shadows on the walls, making everything look surreal.
We turned a corner and saw Sarah standing there, her face pale with worry.
When she saw us, her expression shifted to relief.
"Emily! Jake!" she exclaimed softly, rushing over to us. "I was so worried about you two!"
"We're okay," I assured her, squeezing Jake's hand tighter for reassurance.
Jake smiled at me, his fear replaced by newfound confidence.
"We should get to the exit," he said, looking between Sarah and me. "Together."
Sarah nodded, falling into step beside us as we made our way down the hallway.

The three of us moved quickly but quietly, our footsteps echoing in the empty corridors.
As we approached the main hall, I could see other students and teachers gathering there, their faces a mix of confusion and relief.
The large double doors leading outside were open, letting in the cool evening air.
We stepped out into the courtyard, where a few police officers were talking to the principal.
The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink as the sun began to set.
I took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air fill my lungs.
Jake looked at me with a smile that made my heart flutter all over again.
"We made it," he said simply.
I nodded, feeling a surge of courage that I hadn't felt before today.

Sarah nudged me with a playful smirk.
"So, what happened in there?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.
I felt my cheeks heat up and glanced at Jake, who was grinning.
Before either of us could answer, a police officer approached us, his expression serious.
"We need to ask you some questions about the lockdown," he said, his voice firm.
We exchanged nervous glances but nodded in agreement.
The officer led us to a secluded area away from the gathering crowd.
The secluded spot was dimly lit by a single streetlamp, casting long shadows on the ground.
The officer's face was stern as he pulled out a small notepad.
"Let's start with your names," he said, pen poised to write.
"Emily Carter," I replied, my voice steady despite my racing heart.
"Jake Thompson," Jake added confidently.
The officer scribbled down our names and then looked up, his eyes sharp.
"What exactly happened when the lockdown was announced?" he asked.
I took a deep breath and began recounting the events.

"We were in the hallway when the alarm went off. Everyone started panicking. Jake grabbed my hand and led me to a supply closet for safety."
Jake nodded in agreement. "We stayed there until Mr. Harris found us and told us it was a false alarm."
The officer's pen moved quickly across the notepad as he jotted down our statements.
"Did you see anything unusual or anyone acting suspicious?" he asked, his gaze piercing.
I shook my head. "No, it was just chaos everywhere."
Jake squeezed my hand reassuringly. "Same here. We were just trying to stay safe."
The officer nodded thoughtfully and closed his notepad.
"Alright. Thank you for your cooperation. You're free to go."
We let out a collective sigh of relief as we walked away from the secluded area.
Jake leaned in close and whispered, "Let's talk more later."
I nodded, feeling a mix of relief and anticipation bubbling inside me.
As we rejoined Sarah, she looked at us expectantly.
"So? What did they ask?" she inquired.
"Just about what happened during the lockdown," I explained briefly.
Sarah nodded, satisfied with the answer.
We continued walking towards the exit of the school grounds, the sky now darkening into shades of deep blue and purple.

The streetlights flickered on one by one, illuminating our path.
I felt a sense of calm wash over me as we stepped onto the sidewalk.
Jake's hand remained firmly in mine as we walked together, Sarah chatting animatedly beside us.
For once, I didn't feel like the shy girl hiding in the background.
I felt seen and heard, especially by Jake.
As we reached the corner where we would part ways, Jake turned to me with a warm smile.
"I'll call you later," he promised softly.
I smiled back, feeling my heart flutter once more. "I'll be waiting."
With that, Jake gave my hand one last squeeze before letting go and heading down his street.
Sarah and I watched him go before turning towards our own homes.
"Well," Sarah said with a grin. "Today was definitely eventful."
I laughed softly. "You can say that again."
We walked in comfortable silence for a while, the events of the day replaying in my mind like a vivid movie reel.
As we neared my house, Sarah gave me a quick hug. "See you tomorrow?"
"Definitely," I replied with a smile.
I watched her walk away before heading up to my front door.
As I reached for the doorknob, I heard footsteps behind me.
